Why Gwyneth Paltrow named her baby Apple

On yesterday's Oprah show, one of Oprah's
co-jurors, Deb, had
a question for Gwyneth that so many people wanted to know: "Why you named your baby Apple?"
Gwyneth: "Right, well, um, basically it was because when we were first pregnant, her daddy said, if it's, basically one day he just said if it's a girl I think her name should be Apple. And I just, it sounded so sweet, and it conjures such a lovely picture for me, you know apples are so sweet and they're wholesome, and it's bibilical and it's just, they're so, and I just thought it sounded so lovely and…"
Oprah: "Clean."
Gwyneth: "Clean, and then I just thought perfect and then she was born and it became like an international outrage, I mean which I found surprising because there are people named Rose or Lily or Ivy or June, or you know lots of pretty nouns."
Oprah: "She may be the first Apple."
Gwyneth: "I have actually heard of, since she was born I have heard of some other Apples"
Oprah: "Really"
Gwyneth: "Yeah, I mean who are already alive and in the world as Apples."

Poor Gwynnie. That transcript makes her seem so clueless. I'm sure she has the best intentions and she looks so stunning that I can't be mad. After all, we should be much more suspicious of those who would name their kids Pilot Inspecktor and Dweezil. And while we're at it, take Dweezil Zappa - despite the worst name known to mankind, he's still hip and dating that gorgeous, sweet Lisa Loeb. Guess it didn't hurt him much...

She was so happy that the words were just spilling out of her and she was trying to make them into sentences. She was adorable. After listening to her explain, I actually liked the name (for her kid, not mine).
It was a great inteview. She also told Oprah how her dad took just her to Paris. They stayed at a really fancy hotel, went to museums and nice dinners. On the way home, he asked her if she knew why he had just taken her and not her mom and brother. She didn't. He told her "Because I wanted you to see Paris for the first time with a man who would always love you." Isn't that sweet? Made me tear up :).

I love the name Apple and I dont see why people are so mean. If she likes the name fine its her baby. I know I'm only 19 but if I'm ever blessed with a little girl I would consider it.
