Lesbian moms win right to both be listed on birth certificate

Kimberly Robinson and Jeanne LoCicero's daughter, Vivian Ryan LoCicero, was born April 30 after Robinson was inseminated using sperm from an anonymous donor. Both moms, who were registered as domestic partners in 2003, wanted to be listed on the birth certificate. And on Wednesday, New Jersey Superior Court Judge Patricia Medina Talbert ruled that both LoCicero and Robinson could be listed as mothers on the birth certificate, giving LoCicero the same parental rights as if she had adopted Vivian. The judge said in her ruling, "LoCicero is not required, under law or in equity, to take upon her the legal obligation of parentage… Her voluntary effort to be recognized as a parent under the law with its attendant obligations and responsibilities evinces her desire, intention and commitment to be a parent for Vivian Ryan."

Sounds like this judge could teach the one who forbid parents to raise their child in the Pagan faith a thing or two.

Mature adults who are willing and able to be good parents shouldn't be hindered by silly legal opinions. The judge in this lesbian mother case was right on.
