Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who were featured on the Discovery Channel in a program called "14 children and pregnant again" are now 15 children...and pregnant again. In October, the Duggar family will welcome baby number 16 into the fray. The kids they have now range from age one to 17, including 10 boys, 5 girls, and two sets of twins. "We love children," Jim Bob Duggar said in an interview. "We consider each one a blessing from the Lord and we would both love to have some more."
The family has its own Web site which gives tips from both mom and dad about maintaining such a large family. They are currently building a 7000 square foot all steel home in Arkansas to fit their needs, including 4 washers, 8 dryers and 10 bathrooms. According to the news report linked below, the show about the Duggars' life was the highest rated show every on the Discovery Channel. The Discovery Channel is planning a new documentary called "15 and pregnant again."

Selfish would not be the word for it if you have the ability to finacially sustain these children, which is something they seem to be able to do. Why complain about someone who is taking good care of a large family, when so many have just one or two that they neglect or abuse. I have a great respect for Mrs. Duggar, not only is she diong very well with raising good and responsible children, but she also has to deal with the public eye obviously. I have only one child and find that very trying at times. So we really should applaud someone who tries as hard as these individuals.

I have a hard enough time dealing with one. What she needs with those little ones though is something I found called a Toddler Alert. It has a maximum distance of 80ft and an alarm that goes off when the child is out of range. I am sure there is a Wal-Mart in the area that has it, if not the number is 1-877-778-4472. This is the best thing I have ever used and recommend it to everyone.

None of these kids will ever have the intimate parental attention required to get them through the difficult years when the real world comes knocking at their door. Not to mention the extreme toll this must be taking on the woman's body. There are other methods of birth control besides the pill that do not cause miscarriages. This has gone beyond "allowing God to decide" and entered the realm of "playing russian roulette." The possibility of being considered "selfish" for choosing not to have any more children is long past - the lives of these parents can't possibly be more disrupted than they already are. However, it's clearly useless to implore them to stop. So I will only reiterate that I find this utterly insane.
By the way, Jennifer... I suggest you do some research of your own. Here's a tip: search for the words "ecogological footprint" and see what you get. The reason we are able to sustain our current population is the condition of utter depravity that the majority of the population lives in. If we all lived like middle-class Americans, we would need quite a few more planets.
