The homeschooling shuffle: good or bad?

I found this interesting article about homeschooling parents in Minnesota who are using a textbook fair to talk to people about homeschooling and dispel some of the myths enshrouding it. What I found most interesting about the article, though, was that it starts by focusing on a family where the 14-year-old daughter has chosen to attend public school after years of homeschooling. Her father discusses many of the concerns that my wife and I have had in the past about our kids making this move - mainly, that we don't want them bouncing back and forth between homeschooling and public school. But then again, is bouncing so bad? Our oldest daughter, Meg, went between homeschooling and high schooling for several years. It wasn't until her senior year that she found an alternative school that worked well for her. She needed the structure that high school provides - but not the structure of a typical high school. So is homeschool shuffling really all that bad, if it ultimately serves the best interests of the child?
