The Duggar Family usher in 16th baby, will welcome more

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have done it again: Michelle recently gave birth to their 16th child, Johannah. All of the Duggar children have names beginning with the letter "J." Beth Hoyt covered the family when they were pregnant with Johannah. Jim Bob Duggar, who dabbles in politics and sells real estate, said the same thing when child 15 was born as he did about his newest addition: "We both just love children and we consider each a blessing from the Lord."
According to the Duggar Family website, they are often asked whether they are Mormon or Catholic. They are also asked whether they are aware of how babies are made. The Duggars laugh this off with the same good cheer they express on the rest of their website. The explanation is simple: they have dedicated their lives to the Lord and they have decided that they will accept every child the Lord sends them.
The Discovery Channel plans to do another show on the Duggar family in May; their first show was extremely highly rated. TLC is already doing a show on the Duggars' new home, which Jim Bob and his two oldest sons are building. It will have nine bedrooms and four washing machines. I hope they threw in a few dishwashers, too.

Kate said...These people are so brainwashed! Even if they do love their children so much, imagine how much more personal attention they can give to each child if they would stop having more! The world is already sooo overpopulated, it is socially irresponsible to have such big families. If they love children so much, why don't they adopt? Their are millions of children around the world (orphans and abandoned) that would love to have a home and parents that love them. Maybe the Duggars should consider that before having anymore of their own.

Rachel said...Kate, do you intend to have children at all?
If you intend to become pregnant and give birth (or already have), how would you feel if someone fired the same question at you? The number of children you have is irrelevant to adoption -- to follow your argument to it's logical conclusion, we should ALL adopt and not have anymore births until all orphans are taken care of.
How dare you say something to limit the right of a loving couple (who can support ALL of their children) to have children? I come from a fairly large family of 4 children, and I treasure the relationships we have formed through our lives. I can't imagine not providing my children the same opportunity -- and it REALLY chaps my hide to hear someone tell me that I shouldn't.

Staci said...I don't normally question people's parenting choices, but I just wrote a blog about this, because I can't stand how much these people are lauded as being so "good." I'm not opposed to big families or Christianity or to kids having chores, but they have gone absolutely and horrifying over the top in all three categories. When some of those kids get out from under their thumbs I suspect we're going to hear some stories that aren't as rosy.

The world is not overpopulated. Even here on BloggingBaby, you can see the evidence of this:
"Birth rates falling worldwide; could be a 'timebomb'"

"Japanese join the ranks of the baby-free"

"Australians birth after leaders beg them to procreate"
http://www.bloggingbaby.com/entry/1234000340061460/
And a quote - "If the world is overpopulated where you live, MOVE."
To the Duggar family, as long as they are happy, loving, and can support all of their children, more power to them!

It does seem like they are all very loving and all that, but what happens when the kids venture out into the "real world"? Or maybe they are planning on never leaving the town they are currently living in?
I hope that all the kids turn out ok and that they will get all the attention they need, but I don't think that is going to be the case.

Kim said...I agree with those who say "who are we to judge"; however, I just can't support, agree or even contemplate the necessity of 16 children. These people are just plain weird. I agree with Angel who said that the girls are being programmed to be baby machines, wives and maids and nothing else. Hey, it's their choice but feeding your 16 kids tater tot casserole should be a crime!

I admire Michelle's sweet heart, her enduring patience, her organizational skills, and her unfaltering faith in the Lord. I only wish I had seen this show before my husband got a vasectomy. I would have more too. Jim Bob seems to be a doting husband, amazing father, and an awesome provider! None of those kids are on medicaid or food stamps. God bless them!

I cannot get over how many jealous, insecure, hateful, arrogant and ignorant people there are. Shame on you. When was the last time you hugged your kids and told them that you loved them instead of running to the quick-mart for a pack of cigarettes?
