Fifty Cent billboards come down
Categories: Media
Jen told us about the outcry over
the billboards promoting 50 Cent's new movie a while back. The outcry seems to have worked in several communities,
including Philadelphia. The billboard company, Clear Channel Outdoor, has agreed to remove the signs.
The president of the Philadephia Clear Channel Outdoor branch said: "Based on clear and vocal negative response from
local Philadelphia community groups, we agreed to remove this particular advertisement," The decision applies to
Philadelphia only, however the billboards were also removed in southern Los Angeles.
We have one of these billboards off the freeway as we drive into downtown Detroit. My children have never noted the
image, but I have to admit a man holding a gun and a microphone doesn't really get me riled up. Judging from the two
comments Jen got on this topic, it doesn't seem to rile our readers up either.
