Christmas presents over my dead body: Bratz "Lipstick" MP3 Player
I am both entranced and repelled by Bratz dolls. From a marketing standpoint, the whole line of dolls is
fascinating. I mean, whoda thunk they would have such mass appeal? And yet, would I want my daughter to play with them?
Um…yeah, no.
The new Bratz Plugged In Lip Tunes (lipstick-shaped) MP3 player retails for around $80 and is targeted at the the
tween market. It includes earbud headphones and a belt clip so the 8-to-10-year-old set can keep their
lip-tunes close at hand.
The MP3 player has a 128 MB built-in memory—capacity for around 60 songs. The description boasts that "its compact, lightweight design makes it ideal for stylin' girls who are always on-the-go." (Where is it that these on-the-go girls are going?) I'm all for music for girls, but why does the player need to be shaped like a lipstick? (Wait. Don't answer that. I know why.)
