The box gets its day in the sun
It's a spaceship! No, it's a castle! Wait, no it's a box. The cardboard box has been inducted into the
National Toy Hall of Fame (I'd no idea it
existed, until Stellasmami sent us this tip). How
fitting following Jay's low-tech toy
round up, the cardboard box is considered to be a classic toy which which builds imagination and is accessible to all
kids.
The Toy Hall of Fame is part of the Strong Museum in Rochester, New York is seven years old and has so far put 34
classic toys in it's Hall of Fame collection. Lincoln Logs, the Slinky and Barbie are just a few.

Every one of my kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids have, at one time or another, ignored their presents and played with the box.
The one pictured is a fancy version of the box, magically turned into a dollhouse. Cost - maybe 25¢ worth of glue and another 50¢ worth of miscellaneous supplies.
