Holiday wish list: IKEA for everything
I love IKEA for kid-related items. You can't beat it for
cheap…everything! Yes, there are some quality issues, and they can often be out of stock on items you want,
but in general, I've been happy with all my IKEA purchases. It's the first place I turn for whimsical products with
kid-appeal that won't break the bank. Here are some of my baby and child favorites—all under $20—from IKEA. If
you live near an IKEA, perhaps some of these items are already on your holiday list:
-
Rainbow bed tent: brighten up a bedroom for $17.99
-
Colorful plastic plates and utensils: a four-pack of plates is 99 cents, same with utensils.
-
Wooden stacking rings: popular baby toy, $5.99
-
7-piece baking set you could actually use: cookie cutters, a rolling pin and cake pans for $7.99
-
Brio-compatible trainset for a fraction of the price: It's $12.99.
-
Cute frog cushion: An inflatable bean bag chair guaranteed for 10 years. $14.99.
-
Children's step-stool (we own two): $2.99 each, assorted colors.
-
Lamb mobile for baby: stimulate baby's eye sight for $4.99

meg said...Why I love IKEA:
-Everything is intersting looking and inexpensive
-They have bottle warmers and jars of babyfood at the food court, as well as Uncrustables
-My niece gets an hour of supervised playtime at their child center
-No cares if you take a nap on one of the couches
I'll spend an afternoon with the kids at IKEA for the hell of it, its just so fun and family friendly.

We bought my Ben's first comforter there, and can change the duvet/pillowcase for as little as $10. Plus, as any parent of a toilet training preschooler knows, it's fantastic that his bedding is inexpensive and washable.
And perhaps the best part is that we usually end any trip to IKEA with a $0.99 ice cream cone for each of us. My husband I and almost fight each other over who gets to finish off Ben's ice cream.
