Artists change when they become parents
What happens to an edgy photographic artist when he has a baby? Evidently, he starts taking photos of his child. Juergen Teller, whose work will be shown at the Lehmann Maupin Gallery in New York starting January 13, 2006, is a case in point. As Daddy Types points out, when the creative types procreate, "good artists are usually very attuned to such perturbations and register them in insightful ways."
His photograph, above, of his son Ed is only one indication of the oeuvre. Teller himself says, "I think the range of my life shows in my work." It's certainly a startlingly bright-eyed range.
