Celebrating New Year's Eve with your Kids

Categories: Media

My husband and I have never been big New Year's Eve celebrators.  Don't get me wrong:  it's not that we don't love a good party -- we do --  it's the dodging-all-the-crazies-on-the-road part we're not particularly fond of.  Besides, let's face it:  it's not like it's all that easy to get a babysitter on New Year's Eve, especially since the goal of most babysitters on New Year's Eve is to join all the crazies on the road.

Fortunately, Ehow.com has come to the rescue with a cozy idea on how to celebrate New Year's Eve with your kids (or even with other close family friends who have children).  In a nutshell, it involves the silly party hats and toasting the new year with fruit cider; however, it also includes sleeping bags, and (if you take the tip of one of the site's commenters) stargazing as well.

I love this idea.  Of course, there'll come a time when our little daughter is going to want to join the crazies, but for now, while she's young?

I think this could be the start of a beautiful family tradition.
