Tom Cruise wants to nurse his newborn
Okay, take it for what
it's worth, but The Insider is reporting that Tom
Cruise is reportedly "shocking expectant fathers by explaining how they can nurse their newborns." He also
apparently has said that he "hopes to do it" when Katie Holmes gives birth to their first child. You know, there was a point in time when I would have read a story like this about Tom Cruise and thought, "How absolutely outrageous! What will the tabloids think of next?" But sadly, that time has long passed. I thought Tom fired his publisister because stories like this kept sneaking out. Guess all the bad publicitiy wasn't really her fault. "Maverick" only gets stranger and more mouthy as time goes on. It must be a mission impossible (har har) to put a muzzle on that guy. And, I'm not begruding all the males who nurse out there, really I'm not. I've seen all the websites, they make the rounds on the parenting forums, trust me. But, Tom's career? It's finally over as soon as we see pics of him nursing, right? [photo credit: Getty Images]

Maybe the idea that men *could* be nursing will make people less weird about it in some subconscious way. Or maybe it'll just freak people out more. Llooking forward to the issue of People magazine showing the unknown celeb with a baby on the man boob...

jj said...there are those that claim "nursing" is not necessarily the same as "breastfeeding" - he could be referring to simply comforting his new child. but there *are* reports of males (both human and animal) inducing lactation out there.
