Farris Hassan's father helped him secure visa
Wow, the story of Farris Hassan's
trip into war-torn Baghdad just keeps getting weirder and weirder. After his arrival at Miami international airport
Sunday his mother was not willing to answer questions. But on CNN's 'American Morning' Monday she said, "surprised
that a minor could get a ticket overseas, international and visas, but I also understand his father helped him a
bit."His dad helped him? Yes his father says he helped his son gain entry from Kuwait into Iraq. When asked why he helped he said his son had made it so far he couldn't see not helping. You know, I really understand helping our children reach their goals but helping your minor child head into a war zone unaccompanied by adults? And people worry about teens and MySpace profiles.

Crystal said...If I understood the articles I read correctly, he used his father's status/connections to obtain his visa. I'm not sure the dad actually had knowledge of this, although I think the whole thing was a disgrace to watchful parenting.

MelissaS said...The CNN article I linked to does say his father helped him obtain the visa once he got there. When asked why he said he felt bad sending the boy home after he'd come so far.

John said...The kid just wanted his 15 minutes of fame. Soon, he will appear in morning talk shows talking about his "experience" of living in Iraq but yet he doesn't even understand the language.
I don't know why more people doesn't see him as an idiot. He was lucky to have not appeared in a amateur video as a hostage.
