My son's surprising favorite toy: a plunger
Filed under: Toys
Kids are weird. My son Max has a best
friend named Max. Max has a small
plunger (exclusively a plaything, not used for other things) he likes to play with and it's the hit toy of Max's house.
They other day my own Max got the idea that he needed a plunger, right now. Since I had about 40 errands to run with him
I made it a 'reward' for being good.Yes, I gave my son a plunger as a reward. I don't think you've actually lived until you've been in line at the market and your son says, loudly, "Are we going to get my plunger now!?"
I've never seen him happier with a toy. If you're wondering what one does with a plunger, I'm not sure you can call your life fullfilling. A plunger can be put on your head, like a hat. It can make you an alien. It can go on your forehead so you're a unicorn. You can make it stick to your belly and let someone pull it off. You can stick it on a cabinet door and open it. It also makes amusing (to a four-year-old) (okay, fine, for everyone) fart noises.
In fact seeing how happy he is with it makes me wish I'd scrapped all the great toys we gave him for Christmas and spent just $2 on a plunger. Live and learn.

Now all the moms can look at you with a horrified expression on their faces and say "Uh, that's a toy, right?" as their kid walks in with it stuck to his belly.
