Cooking Rocks Challenge: Week 4 - Fuji Apples with Peanutbuttery Caramel Dip
Filed under: Preschoolers, Activities: Babies, Nutrition: Health, Development/Milestones: Babies, That's Entertainment
The recipe calls for you to melt caramel candies in a bowl with peanut butter and a bit of water, and cook this mixture in the microwave for about 2 minutes. We bypassed this step by pouring some Smucker's Ice Cream Caramel Sauce into a dish, adding the PB and water, and microwaving it for about 30 seconds. Nolan then added cinnamon to the mix. It calls for just a pinch, but he "accidentally" took the top off the bottle and poured about two tablespoons into the bowl. And guess what? It tasted just fine.
I sliced up two Fuji apples that we picked from our farmer's market, poured the sauce into a fancy little espresso cup and arranged the apples around the cup. Nolan was so excited about "the presentation," and he loved dipping the apples into the caramel mix. We're talking double-dipping, triple dipping. For every. single. bite. I couldn't stop him - it was that good.
Total prep and cooking time: Less than 10 minutes.
Next week for the Cooking Rocks Challenge: Breakfast with Jiffy Pancake and Fruit Shortcakes and Maple Sausages and Groovy Homemade Granola.
