Gentle and natural ways to help your child sleep better
Filed under: Development/Milestones: Babies
Frankly, what I have come to accept is that infants and toddlers aren't wired to sleep through the night all of the time. Expectations like this sure have helped my wife and I learn to happily parent Owen twenty-four hours a day, giving him what he needs to be the confident and secure 14-month old that he is now.Hyland's has some gentle tips to help your child through sleep disturbances using essential oils, herb and homeopathy. These are easy, tried and true natural remedies that can't hurt and may even be the final ingredient in the recipe for slumber that includes lots of mommy and daddy cuddles too.

Anna V. said...Nyquil... good for helping with toddler jet lag. Our 3-year-old has issues getting to sleep some nights (thank goodness the twins sleep soundly through the night). We have a clock-radio in her bedroom that plays nature sounds, and she loves the ocean noises. It gets her relaxed and sleep like nothing else. We had tried everything else, and we love it!

Matthew Miller said...Remember, homeopathy isn't actually ancient, natural art -- even though many people trying to sell homeopathic "remedies" like to let that misconception stand. It was invented at the end of the 18th century, an era rife with all sorts of medicinal theories -- and quackery.
Since most homeopathic products are literally sugar pills, it's true that they can't hurt -- except you're usually paying a ridiculous amount for bits of sugar.
That said, the rest of advice they give seems basically sound.
