Bowling with the kids

I
would like the name and contact information for who exactly decided a "MidWinter Break" was a good idea.
Stat. You may reply anonymously if you must but I need to know who thought it a good idea to trap children in the house with their parents during the coldest month of the year. Who did this?
Today is the first day of our midwinter break and it's a balmy 9 degrees farenheit. Rather than eat my young, I decided to take them bowling. We've done this before and it's a quick and cheap way to kill an hour or so. What made this trip remarkable is not that my seven-year-old beat me. No, she's done that before. It's not the fact that we all played on the same bumper equipped lane. No the remarkable part of this trip is that my four-year-old beat me.
The scores: Madison, 97. Maxwell, 94. Mom, 88.
Wow. Though I have to say in my defense, when you 'win' at bowling are you ever really a winner? I mean really? I think I'll wear my poor bowling skills with pride. You can put me in the midwest, you can make me like beer but you can never make me good at bowling.

I love bowling, my 5-year-old son loves bowling with me. He almost always wins by one stinking point. I rejoice secretly when I beat him by one point :-) He has no care in the world when it comes to our scores, but I guess I have issues, hehe.
Glad you and the family had a fun time bowling!

We too were stuck in the house last weekend -27 degrees with enough energy to heat the house. My daughter loves bowling I do not. But she did have her birthday as a bowling extravaganza/pinata beating party with a dozen 5/6 yo!! Comes in handy sometimes.
And eventually, whatever she loves I learn to love too..

I'll tell you who thought of mid-winter break: the teachers who spend 6-8 hours a day five days a week with 20-30 children. As someone who has been a classroom teacher, trust me, we need it to keep from eating your children for you! I never knew that teachers counted down until summer break until I was a teacher myself.
