Birthday party tips from Martha Stewart Kids
Filed under: Babies, Preschoolers, Activities: Babies, Medical Conditions, That's Entertainment
The spring edition of Martha
Stewart Kids just arrived and it's my favorite one - the birthday party issue. I always love checking out the
themes, trinkets and cakes featured. I nearly dropped to the floor in praise of the MS Kids staff when I saw two party
themes that I could actually replicate. Read: EASY. That's nearly unheard of in MS Kids-land.Right now I'm digging the Messy Party idea for Nol. The invites are postcards that he can paint and for the actual party, kids come ready to get messy with crafts. To extend the theme the birthday cake would be a ooey banana split. What preschooler wouldn't love that? A party where you insist the kids get messy?
For Q., the Bouncy Party is a perfect fit for newly-walking toddlers. You fill a room with different sized balls and let the little ones go wild. The invites look easy to make and the birthday cake idea requires minimal decorating.
Other ideas include a wacky party and a tiny party where even the cake is miniature-sized.
Again, let me express my extreme gratitude to MS Kids for finally offering party ideas that craft-challenged, pressed-for-time parents can actually execute. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.

We even had a hair-do contest where they covered our heads with shaving cream and we fix our "hair". At the end - we were hosed down. I still remember the fun!
