Michael Douglas slams Brad Pitt for leaving Jennifer Aniston
Filed under: Bump Watch, Celeb Kids, Rumors
Tipster Joan points us to a New York Daily News article in which
Michael Douglas reportedly said:"I don't know about Brad Pitt, leaving that beautiful wife (Jennifer Aniston) to go hold orphans for Angelina, I mean, how long is that going to last?"
The quote, also covered by People.com is taken from an interview that Douglas recently gave to GQ. Pitt's people declined to comment.
I guess it's safe to say Douglas is on Team Aniston. In fact, he just might be the captain.

Red said...Hmmm. I have never felt compelled to sign in or comment, that is, until I read this.
As a woman and mother, I am appalled. As an adoptive mother, I am more than disgusted. Mr. Douglas might be interested to know that those children are not orphans. They have a mother, Ms. Jolie, and now a father, Mr. Pitt. Mr. Douglas should not bring innocent children into his effort to support one adult against another in an adult situation; by doing so, he has, as my 90 year-old grandmother would say, "shown his ass and his ignorance."

Laura said...Douglas' statements are extremely ironic, coming from a man that regularly cheated on his first wife Deandra, spent little time with his son by Deandra and ended up leaving her for Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Those in glass houses, Michael.

P's Mama said...Disgusting. First of all, no one knows what really, really happened in Brad & Jen's marriage, and second of all, I agree with Laura... those kids are NOT orphans - they have a wonderful (in my opinion) mommy and now a daddy, too. And as an adopted daughter myself, I am repulsed at his comments. And yes, his track record alone should preclude him from making such nasty comments about someone else's life choices. Ugh.

Rebecca said...So wait, Marie...
If I commit adultery with a heterosexual, prudish, only child, with no tattoos, and who shuns attention, then by your standards... my karma's good to go?
Sorry. I couldn't resist.
Not sure about the "dark sider" adjective, though. Is this a comment on her complexion, hair color, or a Star-Wars-"Luke, I am your father"- thing?

Marie - You say "dark sider, bisexual, nymphomaniac, incest seeking, tattoo bearing, attention loving women" like they're a bad thing. ; )

Lety said...It's about time someone spoke up about this ugly mess. I have been a big fan of Pitt until this. Yes it's true no one knows exactly what was going on in Pitt-Aniston marriage but their is one thing that is obvious to everyone "he cheated and got his lover pregnant". As a married wife of 10 years I have to totally agree with Mr. Douglas. If Pitt wanted babies and REALLY loved his wife, wait and have them with her.

Dana said...It basicly boils down to Mr. Douglas has no room to talk or judge becasue in a year he could be doing the same to his wife. That is how Hollywood operates ! They want to make comments and judge other people and then yet they turn around and do it themselves. I don't think Mr. Douglas has had the most innocent past either.

Gloria said...As I read your entry I thought the same as a few of the other ladies who left comments. Brad Pitt did not leave Jennifer Aniston to hold orphans for Angelina Jolie. Those children are NOT orphans. They have two very loving parents in both Angelina and Brad. Michael Douglas also mentions how Brad Pitt could leave "that beautiful wife"...like looks ever had anything to do with love. Looks are subjective. What's beautiful to one person, could be ugly to another. It's the soul that counts, after all.
Michael Douglas routinely had affairs throughout his first marriage and even checked himself in to a rehab clinic for "sex addiction". Now he's married to Ms. "One Million dollars is nothing to us" Catherine Zeta Jones, who is young enough to be his daughter. He may not be cheating now, but who's to say SHE won't cheat on him...
Charma is a bitch...

Lanna said...In the interviews with Aniston it's obvious how hurt she was by the break-up. Jolie has some redeaming qualities in the help she provides to the down-trodden of other countries (much better than wearing a vial of blood, YUCK!!!!!!!) But it's more than in bad taste to have conceived a child when the divorce wasn't even final. That child will eventually learn of these events, and being in a celebrity family is hard enough.

Catherine Zoltan said...Dear Red,
Your post echo's my sentiments exactly. Those children have parents. Why wouldn't someone want to hold an orphan? I was orphaned at three and until my adult life encountered the same stigma. Brad married and wanted a family. Jennifer chose to work instead. He should have charged her with fraud after sitting at home alone for the next six years. Michael seems to think if one has access to a "beautiful wife" he shouldn't be interested in orphans. Maybe Brads heart is bigger than his eyes. Michael has some real issues with genetics. He seems critical, self important, unforgiving and very narrow minded. So, Brad has escaped the "ME ME ME" universe and has put others before himself. Some people don't seem to notice he has taken on a wife and three children, he carries a bigger responsibility. I have the utmost respect for Brad Pitt and Anjeline Jolie. I will never support Michael Douglas again financially by paying to watch a movie he performs in. An orphan once.

If it was not Angelina then it would have been some one else could have been me who know's who cares. Brad has always wanted children Jennifer was the one that wanted to push her career instead of family and now he feels he has that with jolie than let it be All the power to them. (but hey If they break up I am available BRAD lol
