Blogging Baby meet up: San Francisco Edition
Yesterday I had a meet up of sorts with three Bay Area longtime Blogging Baby readers and
commentors. Uncle Roger, my staunch ally against a cadre of
anti-feminist, homophobic commentators last
summer, was the host of the get together with his wife and two wonderful children. Blogging Baby's number-one
prolific commentor, Ann Adams, had driven all the way from Merced
with her three lovely and very-active great grandchildren, and we were joined by L, another longtime Blogging Baby reader and commentor, her husband,
and their three beautiful children. Roger made some incredible steaks and everyone sat around and talked and ate while
the kids played together.
Roger, Ann, and L, all met on Blogging Baby and have continued their friendship online on their personal blogs (links above). It was pretty wonderful to see the warm and genuine friendships that were forged in the common ground that everyone present was able to communicate on the internet and then translate to the real world.

I'm deeply jealous that you got to meet the ever loverly Ann Adams in person (she's my adpoted internet Granny, you know).
And I followed your link, but about 3 "Robert" posts in, I just couldn't take it any more. GAH!

If there had been any way to "beam" you down here, we would have done it.
We had a great time, the kids were awesome considering there were nine of them in Roger's house at one time. Not a meltdown in the bunch.
I'll write about it on granny with pictures. Girls put their toes in the Pacific Ocean all the time worrying about sharks.
A safe and happy trip and, as Dutch said, how wonderful to met some of the San Francisco people I've forged such close ties with (including Dutch and his lovely wife) over the past year or so. They are not "virtual", they are real.

You know, both Ann and Lisa have blogs because I made them start them :). I am going to go ahead and take credit for that. Met them here on BB as well.

Andrea, I'm sure we will do it again... Make sure you let someone know when you're going to be in town. This summer, I'm sure, we'll be barbequeing.
It was a great time and great fun to meet Dutch, Wood, L, and Ann in person -- a great honor, actually.
For those in other areas, plan your own get-togethers. Just don't forget to post about it here!

Hmmm -- more blog-on-blog action. Careful people, don't ruin the mystique!
A major attraction to me of blogging is all the things I might 'say' because I don't see people. This is not so easy to explain.. I do not in anyway misrepresent myself online, perhaps I am a more accurate representation in the written word than in person. If that makes any sense?
A lot of recent comments have been made about knowing -- and liking -- people ahead of time from their blogs then meeting them and it is all the same. I should explain I guess that I especially appreciate reading posts with views I do NOT agree with. Certainly something difficult to juggle in live parent/parent social situtations but readily accessible online. I take perhaps the most from the diversity of experience AND opinion 'out there'.
Still, who would not want to see and touch the huggable Granny.
