Cooking Rocks Challenge: What's worked so far...
Categories: Preschoolers, Eating & Nutrition, Development, That's Entertainment
The recipes that were were quick to make and met with eating enthusiasm were:
Week 1: Lunch-box Turkey Sushi
Week 2: Sloppy Turkey Joes and Cheesy French Fries
Week 3: Meatloaf Muffins with BBQ Sauce
Week 3: Ria's Double-Chips Cookies with Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chips
Week 4: Crunchy Oven-Baked Chicken Toes
Week 4: Fuji Apples with Peanutbuttery Caramel Dipping Sauce
Week 7: Cinnamon Apple Nachos
Week 8: Fruit Benedicts & Egg Scrambles
The rest, as they say, are history, never to be made again in our house based on taste and the length of time it took to prepare the recipes. Notice how all the sweet-related recipes are high on the list? The favorite right now are Fruit Benedicts - I've made them every morning this week, using Nutella instead of peanut butter.
Nol's always shared my interest in cooking, but now he pulls a chair up to the counter every day, grabs the cookbook and asks, "What can we making today?" That alone, makes the Cooking Rocks Challenge a success, even if he hates every recipe we cook from here on out.
Next week, we're back to cooking with: Chicken Parmesan Sub with Warm Tomato-Basil Salsa and Absolutely Fabulous 5-Minute Fudge
Have you tried any recipes in Cooking Rocks? What's worked for you? And which recipes would you like to see us try?

I just bought this book based on your posts. I'm hoping it'll help end Diva Girl's mealtime rebellions. Tonight we're going to pick three recipes to make next week.

I have never heard of this cookbook. I might give it a look.
I just posted on my blog today about my picky eater. I found a new favorite of his and all of ours earlier this week.
My picky eater who is seven loves to cook too. I thought if I really involved him in the meals he would at least try some of it. Nope, didn't work.

Haven't tried that book yet, but it looks really good. My 4-year-old loves to help me cook, even though she's really picky and won't eat what we make. Maybe letting her choose the recipes?
