Mother Bear Project

You might remember a couple of days ago, I wrote
a post lamenting how knitting was
causing me stress (incidentally, I'm on the front of that pullover now, and there's a part of the instructions that
are TRULY confounding me, but I digress). Well, one of the Blogging Baby readers, Barbara, decided that if I was
going to be stressed anyway, it should be for a good cause -- and she introduced me to the Mother Bear Project. This organization, founded by Barbara's next-door neighbour, is "a grass-roots, non-profit group dedicated to providing comfort and hope to children, primarily those affected by HIV/AIDS in emerging nations, by giving them a gift of love in the form of hand-knit bears." Each bear is knit by volunteers -- the pattern can be downloaded for a fee from the website, and once knit, can be submitted to be sent to children in countries like Rwanda, Uganda, Lesotho and Swaziland.
A truly inspirational organization -- this may have to be my next knitting project. After all, they've received bears from all over the world -- but not yet from Trinidad & Tobago!
