Tooth fairy is seriously falling down on the job
Filed under: Playground Bureau
Meredith at Boston Mommy Blog is a little annoyed with the tooth
fairy and her inability to focus on her job. She forgot to pick up little Abbey's tooth the night she lost it, which
was obviously traumatic for Abbey. This is interesting since my daughter lost a tooth on Monday night and the tooth fairy failed to pick up or deliver the cash that night as well. This is not the first time this has happened either. We're going to have to look into replacing our tooth fairy I think.
I just don't think her heart is in it. Either that or she's running low on pocket change and only had a five and didn't want to be all crazy with the tooth payment thing. It wasn't even a molar.

cee said...Hey, she missed our house a week or so ago too! She did come the next night and leave a nice note and twice the going rate around our house. I think she was feeling guilty about forgetting.
I did a post on it last week with a copy of the letter. It made up for her tardiness with my son Jeff.

Meredith said...I think it's the Tooth Fairy's desperate cry for help. I think she needs an assistant, given the fact that she's apparently been missing homes all across the country, Melissa's and Cee's homes.
Geez.

i hope they are on their last year for the tooth fairy. Even now, I'm fairly sure they're humoring grandma.

Sometimes the tooth fairy has tripped on a toy and broken a wing and had be out of work for a while. Luckily my sister suspected as much and made sure her daughter cleaned up her room ahead of time!

Belinda said...To help the trumatize child, tell them (or help them) to write a letter to the tooth fairy saying they lost their tooth and where it was. Mom my had a HORRIBLE memory and the first time I started crying in the morning because she didn't come, she helped me write a letter saying "Dear Toothfairy, I lost my tooth Monday and I put it under my pillow for you. Thank you, Belinda" then she would tape it on the door frame, so when she came to check on me she had a reminder.

Anne said...The tooth fairy has been officially banned from my home. My son lost his tooth (he is 4) and I told him the wonders of the tooth fairy. He then became scared to death that SOMEONE WAS COMING IN HIS ROOM! Who cares if she leaves money/ prizes. We are thinking maybe the tooth fairy should pick up the tooth from the doorway outside. ROFL

(They had four kids in under five years and both worked, so they didn't notice the big gap in my smile.) I was heartbroken when my tooth was still under my pillow in the morning. My mom introduced me to the Tooth Fairy Saucer. It was a saucer from her china set and from then on, it lived on our kitchen counter. Whenever anyone lost a tooth, they put it on the saucer and the Tooth Fairy never missed another lost tooth again. (Yes, we've instituted the saucer at our house and it still works well.)
My youngest brother had to have his wisdom teeth pulled when he was 17. He dug out the saucer and left the teeth. In the morning there was a note that said.
"I am sorry to inform you that I will not give money for teeth I had to pay myself to have extracted. Yes, I, your mother, am the Tooth Fairy. And if you didn't know that by now, let me also tell you that I am the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus.
Love, Mom"

Belinda said...LOL that is funny Katie, my mom just stopped giving me money. I lost a molar when I was about 15 and put it under my pillow and even left a note. Nothing was done, I finally gave up a week later and threw it away. I didn't tell my sister though, she still believed at that time.
