New York City baby names
Categories: Playground Bureau, Media
Who knew that if you live in New York City,
what you name your child could say something about where you live? UrbanBaby has broken down baby names by neighborhood based on the
Health Department's citywide list. If you have a Bailey, Brewster, Walker, Alice, Grace, or Nell, you're an Upper Eastsider.
Got a Drake, Faith, Gabriel, Lucy, Simeon, or Scout? You must live on the Upper West Side.
If you live Downtown you might bump into a Dante, Lulu, Jared, Hazel, Jack, or Gemma.
My daughters' names didn't make any of the lists, but Wallie's middle name (and my grandmother's name)—Flora—would indicate that we live Downtown.
Check the list for your child's name and tell us: where do you live?

None of the names I gave my sons are on that list either. Aidan James, Christopher Lee, and Allen Curtis. But then we are west coast all the way around here. My grandson Alexander Cameron, lives in NYC, but his name isn't on there either.

Hmm, no Morgan. Maybe we should move to NYC since she is one of about 3 million Morgans down here. Got a couple of new boy name ideas from the list.

Well, my daughter Sophia would be from the upper west side, but neither of my boys (Thomas and Cameron) made the list. Oh well. They're named for great people anyway (all 3 of them).

I live on the Upper East Side. Is the Upper East Side name "Sebastin" a typo? Haven't heard that one before, but I've seen a few "Sebastian"s, including my own son.
