Another gym teacher accused of bribery
Filed under: Media, Day Care & Education
In February I told you about Terence
Braxton who accepted bribes from his phys ed students who wished to skip participating in gym activities at a Florida
middle school. It seems the bribery was happening with other teachers at the same school as well. Now Tamara Tootie is facing similar bribery charges for allowing kids to sit out of class without penalty in exchange for a dollar. The bribes were apparantlly taken during the 2004-2005 school year.
Tootie has resigned from the middle school and was outed by Terence Braxton who will be in court on his own bribery charges on May 3.

I would have gladly paid a dollar a day to get out of it.
I do realize that PE is the only physical activity some kids get, and that it does teach a lot about team work etc., but I still don't think it should be required.
My oldest son started out hating PE this year but he has learned to like it, a lot. I never let onto him how much I hated it. I wanted him to form his own opnion, I am glad he likes it since he will be stuck with it for so many years.

Could the students have been so disruptive that it was worth it to the teacher to have them sit out "quietly" while the teacher had motivated students who wanted to learn something?

In Florida, they make u go out in the 95 degree heat, get all sweaty, go back and get dressed with no time to shower, (as if we would have anyway) and then sit in your next class all sweaty and hair dripping with no makeup. No wonder these kids were paying.
