What toddlers eat around the world
Filed under: Toddlers Preschoolers, Preschoolers, Nutrition: Health

MSN Lifestyle has a great article about what kids eat in other countries. You all know what French kids eat every day, but did you know that a typical Japanese toddler lunch is egg-flavored rice with broiled fish or seafood, a side dish of lightly cooked seasonal vegetables, and soup with tofu? That kids from South Africa scarf mealie pap, a maize- or cornmeal-based porridge? And that Israeli toddlers are typically served one of three kinds of sandwiches for lunch: olive and butter, salted cottage cheese, and chocolate spread?
If you want to know what kids eat in Turkey, Brazil or Sweden, read this article and take an exciting journey through the cultural diversity of our world!

Mr. Mom said...Neat article. It's funny because my son (A North American boy of 4) prefers sushi for breakfast. Sometimes, if we have time before the pre-school drop off and he's been good the previous day, we'll stop and get a little spicy tuna roll or some mackeral sashimi. If my parents offered it to me at that age, I would have been revolted. I love sushi now, and I think he's just following my lead.
