Katie Holmes stepped out recently for a night out on the town with fiance, Tom Cruise. The pair is ubiquitously famous for smiling at the paparazzi who constantly hound them. In fact, they can probably consider it a given that they will be photographed every time they leave the house. Which is why I had to cringe for poor Katie. Oh, moms out there, hasn't this happened to all of us? You go out in public, you're all excited about a little break, you have nursed the baby, you're good to go, so you head out the door, and ... Whoops! Forgot to fasten that bra back up (or worse, it pops out on its own!). SJ sent an e-mail around after we got this tip saying, "This totally makes me feel better about my old skanky nursing bras." And she was nursing her baby, Sam, when she said it. See? We can all relate. If it's not nursing bras, it will be baby vomit or poop. Hang in there, Katie! Consider it a little baptism by fire, er, milk, into motherhood! (Plus, are we ever going to get a glimpse of the happy couple with their new baby???).

stace said...Nursing bra and nursing shirt with the baby in a sling and forgetting to do both up after he had just nursed and walking all over walmart and then taking the older kids to McD's for a fast lunch to have the McD's girl look at me like I'm crazy, my boob was out of the bra and the shirt. Lucky my brother was the manger and I had knew this girl for a few years and had two much much younger sisters who were both breastfed, but anyone who would of tried to look in the sling at the babe would of seem more then the baby:)

Neener said...Good for Katie for nursing her baby! Even if hubby seems to be a bit off his rocker, the publicity of a celebrity breastfeeding is always good for the cause. And you can't avoid walking out with a nursing bra unhooked at least once, fortunately when I did it there were no papparazzi around. Whew.

thordora said...As much as the entire thing is a bit of a trainwreck at times, I'm beginning to have some respect for Katie for NOT looking perfect 2 weeks after giving birth. She looks like hell, just like we all did after getting our own kids. Now if only she'd get rid of Mr. Wonka....

Mary said...This is why, after a couple of months with my first, I never again bothered with a nursing bra. I got myself a few demi bras with stretch or lace fronts, and just slipped myself up and over the edge to nurse. When I was done, a quick tug at the strap (oh, all right, and maybe a little discreet jiggling) and everything was back in place. (No, I'm not petit, either, and I was even bigger when nursing.)
I, too, love that she's looking a bit haggard. Who doesn't, two weeks after baby? Proves she's real. :-)

wendy said...not giving her any credit for anything... on my third breastfed child and could never leave the house with any of them for any length of time until at least six weeks... isn't anyone questioning who is feeding the baby who undoubtably was hungry again an hour after she left? let's not forget... the baby is 2 weeks old? highly doubt she can pump anything yet...
And Tom is just plain nuts... can't stand to even hear his name anymore.

Marcie said...I can't stand to look at either of them anymore, although I would like to see the baby.Katie (Kate)is not the first woman to give birth to a child. What does scientology have to say about having a baby out of wedlock? Also, why do I have a feeling this baby is not biologically Tom Cruise's? There was a rumour years ago that the reason he and Mimi Rogers' (his first wife) marriage didn't work out is because he could not have children. Yes, this was just a rumour however I can't help but wonder if there is any truth to it. And Lord help Kate if she dares to mention the "D" word.

Monica said...Maybe Tom Cruise thinks, that -- according to scientology the baby should wait only one mili second when it cries out to nurse, therefore the bra should always remain unhooked.

At least she is dressed nicely, and isn't wearing a trashy tank top over big nursing bra and too-tight shorts like Britney Spears wore post-baby. Everyone, (myself included) has had the nursing slip ups. Its not a big deal. I am glad that she is breast feeding. Good luck Kate!

I have never seen a photo of Kate where she wasn't grinning ear to ear when she's with Tom. You know - that vacant, huge grin. I'm pretty sure she's suffering a chemical imbalance. Even though "there's no such thing"
