McDonald's and Disney dissolve a mutually beneficial relationship
Categories: Eating & Nutrition, Media
As noted on our sister site Slashfood, Disney and McDonald's will soon be going their separate ways. By the end of the summer the fast food chain will no longer be able to toss plastic 101 Dalmatian dogs or Pocahontas figurines into their Happy Meals. This is not anything that McDonald's initiated, the split is due to Disney's realization that fat laden food fried in grease does not represent the sort of family values the company desires. With childhood obesity at an all time high and quickly on the rise in our company, Disney wants to distance itself from the fast food giant. This sort of divorce is a growing trend among large corporations. With Former President Clinton's recent initiative to remove sodas from the nation's schools and other similar steps by large organizations perhaps there will be a trend towards a more healthy conscience in our country.
The last promotional collaboration for both Disney and McDonald's will this summer's releases of "Cars" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."

This can only mean a rise in the value of disney themed happy meal toys.

I, as a somewhat still new dad, and have only begun letting my son eat fast food, have yet seen any problems with Mc Donald's. They have come a long way from their earlier days. My wife and I make sure that 90% of the time, we get apples and milk for our son. (So far he has not had any soda and only rarly fruit punch). But a good cheese burger or Fazoli's (etc) I do not think as a bad thing. I know he gets plently of exercise during the week. I understand Disney's methods, and accept it. I only hope that Mc Donald's does not lose its Monopoly contract. If it were not for my wife's hunger craving for Mc Donald's, and the board game, I would never eat there myself.

Good maybe they will get some better toys. I am tired of the everything Disney theme.
We eat there occasionally and I agree there are healthy choices if you want. No pop for my son either, he doesn't eat the fries and nuggets occasionaly won't kill him.
I love the toddler playskool (or is it fisher price) toys. maybe we will get something better.

Thankfully at six yo my daughter has completely stopped asking to go McDonalds. Her fastfood choice is subs now.
When she was younger she would ask more to lunch at Mcs when she saw a commercial and wanted the toy in the meal.
I can see how the hand in hand marketing helped Mcs wouldn't it be nice for future parents/kids to have Disney collaborate with a sub chain?!
