Mommy business cards

Categories: Just For Moms, Money & Work

I can't even begin to count the number of times I have needed to give my personal information to another mother, only to realize that the only paper source I can find is a muck covered birthday invitation lurking in the bottom of my purse. Some clever mothers are keying into this dilemma and have come up with the concept of mommy cards. The cards contain the basic information of phone numbers and names. Some mothers put birth dates, allergies or other safety information.

For mothers moving to a new community the card is an ingenious method for introductions. Mothers going to a restaurant for lunch can now drop their card in the fish bowl to be eligible for the weekly lunch give aways. For other mothers who once distributed business cards among colleagues, a mommy card helps them feel a sense of pride and organization they might have left behind at the office.

This is not to say that motherhood should be treated as a business. Yes, it is a job. A wonderful and fabulous one at that. But the mommy card has merit. To never again have to rummage through the dregs of one's purse looking for a functional pen is a very good thing.
