Case against Karr dropped
Filed under: Health & Safety: Babies
Since the first day I heard about John Mark Karr, the man that confessed to killing JonBenet Ramsey, I couldn't help but think something was off.Perhaps it was the fact that his family insisted he was nowhere near Colorado on the day she died, but I had a feeling he wasn't the killer.
Well, it turns out the case against him has been dropped after DNA taken from Karr did not match the DNA on JonBenet. Karr told investigators in Thailand, where he had been arrested, that he was present at the beauty queen's 1996 death, which he deemed an "accident."
What followed was a media circus with US officials flying to Thailand to escort Karr home. And, of course, once they spent all that time and money....the DNA didn't match!
Reports did not say what will happen to Karr now that the case will not go through. Personally, I think they should have his lying butt back on a plane to Thailand. Ever see the movie "Brokedown Palace," John?

Kira said...This whole thing is so disturbing. Karr is clearly...unstable and broken in many ways. I'm glad the justice system has cleared him if he didn't do it, but how sad is it that as sick as he is, there's someone even sicker still out there?
After ten years, I think many who followed this case had given up on the hope of anyone being caught for this horrible crime. If I'm sad about the fact that the killer hasn't been caught, how heartsick must JonBenet's family be?

JonBarry Weinstein said...Way to go Mr Karr,....you showed all the world just how desperate, vengeful, and paracidic our American media is. Major networks from MSNBC to CBS swallowed your story hook line and sinker!
Desperate is the only word I believe can acuartely describe the state our media is in here in America. Half the truth being reported one quarter of the time,..that means just about an eigth is true. All the rest is just plain editorialized hype!
No wonder we are in a trillion dollar unwinnable war in Iraq and domestic fuel prices have tripled. Now if only the networks and their news outlets would find the testicular fortitude to take Nancy Regan's charge of,.."just say no" to junk news and try to focus on the real issues that are making all of us Americans flat busted out broke, and afraid in our own homes.
I mean come on,..how hard was it to take Karr's mouth swab in Thailand and then seal it and FEDex it to Boulder CO for analysis.
Once that thin veil of probable cause was met by any DNA match, Karr could have been extradited. The Boulder DA has now joined LA Govenor Kathleen Bianco as one of the lamest women in public service. If she even had an ounce of self respect she would resign immediately. Get a grip lady, sometimes being a leader means way more than saying yes,..it means sayimng no, and it always means leading! She and Govenor Kathleen can maybe go on Oprah! Then Oprah can endorse their book and they will all make millions.
Does anyone really ever wonder why the entire Muslim world detests us and rebukes us all as infidels? Way to go US Media,..you just port-sided us all with another direct hit to our shatterd and tattered American international credibility!
I can wait for Katie Couric to take over the CBS Evening News Chair,....God help us all! Anyone have an old TV airial they want to sell?

Anna said...What is beyond me is that the so-called 'Runaway Bride' from GA had gotten into trouble for fabricating a story and got fines and community service...but this nutjob walks away on this charge?!
Why not arrest him for making a false confession? Way to go...just let him back into society so he can do more screwed up crap.
I heard they arrested him for porn-big whoop.

JonBarry Weinstein said...The comparison is easy Anna an irresponsible media devoid of fact checking has made fools of us all.
They have treaded heavily on our most valued American Freedom...our free press. If we can so easily be swayed and controlled by the network "news" spin doctors as in this Karr case can't you see how little factual information we are getting out of that hell hole called the middle east? We have spent a trillion tax payers’ dollars on an un-winnable war. We have lost over 2500 wonderful Americans. Fathers and mothers and sons and daughters all blown to bits because our press failed to stick its dirty microphone in the faces of our lame, barely elected, and almost criminal leaders! In Jesus Christ words,.."you shall come to know the truth and the truth shall make you free", Anna I fear that we now are less free than at any other time in American history. The Karr blunder is just proof that the media can not be trusted with the dissemination of the truth!
It's all about credibility Anna,. right now our U.S. news media is an emperor without clothes! Its credibility is shot! And gas is 7 cents a gallon at the pump in Iraq! Go figure, Anna?
