Tony Danza, wife separate after 20 years

I read about celebrity breakups often, and I'm not usually surprised or affected.

But when I read about Tony Danza's split with his wife of twenty years, Tracy, I felt a little sad for them. Tracy and Tony have two daughters and a grandson via Tony's son from a previous marriage. They would have gone through the baby years, the pre-school years, the teenage years. They loved each other enough to stick it out for twenty years: it perplexes me how it could go so wrong after that point. After all the hard stuff, shouldn't the latter years be for enjoying the grandchildren and strolling on the beach together?

I grew up watching Tony as the consummate Dad on Who's the Boss, so perhaps I feel strangely tied to his persona.

I wish he and his family the best in getting through this difficult period.
