Mommy jeans? No thank you.

Filed under: Just For Moms, Places To Go

Lately I have been searching for the perfect pair of jeans. There is something about the arrival of fall and the knowledge that winter is just around the corner that makes me need the comfort of denim. Unfortunately, I haven't a single pair of jeans in my closet. Sure I have tons in storage, but none that fit. That is none that fit my current state of motherhood. Since I gained over 15 pounds last year I can't wear any of my jeans. This leaves me in a bit of a predicament since I have not done any serious blue jean shopping in a number of years. Yes, I settled easily into some of the lower, boyfriend, waisted jeans as they became popular. But the whole Britney Spears, low rider thing? No. I have tried on a few pairs and have always found that my post child, mommy pooch just oozes over the low rise rim in a most unflattering way. But the polar opposite of donning a pair of pleated, ample hipped mommy jeans? I think not, thank you very much. I have read that some women feel more comfortable wearing the low riders and letting their pooch ease over the side. While the other camp, where I firmly dwell, cannot bear to feel our softer side exposed in such manner.

So what to do? Other than 500 sit ups every day, isn't there a pair of jeans out there for moms? If any body knows, I would love to hear about them. I'll be first in line to buy a pair.
