A book about cars for teenage girls
Categories: Teens & tweens, Just for dads, That's entertainment
The cool thing about this book is that it was written by a teenage girl. 17-year-old Stephanie Esterline is a high school senior from Michigan, who excels at school and sports. Her book, This Girl's First Car: Teenage Girls Guide to Safe Car Care & Easy Maintenance Tips, covers things like oil changes, flat tire repair, and what to do when a car won't start. She even gives a how-to on keeping a car's paint job looking good.
Stephanie and her father, Dwayne Esterline, worked on the book together. They both saw it as an opportunity to help educate teen girls, since unfortunately not enough of them know a fan belt from a fuel injector. Stephanie recommends reading the book through to get a grasp on the basics, and then stashing the book in the glove box so it'll be handy when it's needed. Sounds to me like this book would be a good gift for any teen girl with a set of car keys.
Here's a link to Stephanie's interview with Patty of Ask Patty - Automotive Advice for Women.

Good for her. Lord knows I could use that if we ever buy a car. Of course, I'd have to learn to drive first.

That is really cool. I am embarrassed at how little I know about cars!
