British retailer Tesco accused of selling stripper pole as toy
Categories: Development, Media, Toys & games
With all the ten-year olds modelling super-skimpy bikinis these days, and, well, the clothes they're selling to preteen girls just about everywhere, I guess it shouldn't be so surprising that a large British retailer has started selling a "stripper pole kit" in the toy section of its website. Tesco is Britain's largest chain retailer, and its website has been advertising the kit unbder the "toy" category with the underlying text, "Unleash the sex kitten inside...simply extend the Peekaboo pole inside the tube, slip on the sexy tunes and away you go! Soon you'll be flaunting it to the world and earning a fortune in Peekaboo Dance Dollars."The kit, which costs about 50 British pounds, includes an extendable stripper pole, a "sexy dance garter," and a DVD that teaches the viewer how to remove their knickers. Sexily.
Tesco today agreed to remove the product from the Toy section of its site, but said it will remain for sale under the category of "fitness accessory."

To be fair, it is most definitely a toy. Not a child's toy obviously. And I don't think that it was ever intended as such, either by Tesco or by the manufacturer. Perhaps they need a new category on their website.

It needs to be put with the safety equipment section. Re-name it "Fire Pole". In case of fire please slide down to safety.

I bought one as a surprise gift for my boyfriend, I am sure we will enjoy it. It is surprisingly sturdy.

My friend JB bought this for me, I love it, but he keeps calling me "Lupe" for some reason. Weird...? It Is pretty sturdy as Ainky states, but we did bend it. No matter, I like it that way. Cheers

Oh Britain, you serve us so proudly.
Personally I prefer ASDA to Tesco. They're cheaper, friendlier and don't turn kids into sluts.
