Listen to your buds!
Filed under: Health & Safety: Babies, Gadgets, That's Entertainment
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association has a fabulous new website for kids, parents and educators called Listen To Your Buds! (View it in Spanish here)The site is devoted to preventing hearing loss due to the misuse of personal music devices. There are games for kids, tips for parents (turn down the volume, limit listening time, and upgrade those headphones), and ideas for teachers.
I was really impressed with how thorough the site is. There are short videos, lesson plan ideas for teachers, fun stuff for kids, and a meter that shows what different sorts of everyday noise can do to your hearing. Here's a page devoted to upgrading those ear buds, including links to reviews of different sorts of headphones and where to get them.
Check out Listen To Your Buds! protect your kid's hearing.
