Would you let your child anywhere near Michael Jackson?
Categories: Celeb Parenting
At the World Music Awards on Wednesday night, Michael Jackson accepted the Diamond Award at the for selling 100 million albums worldwide. This, incidentally, was the award ceremony were he was supposed to perform "Thriller", but chickened out at the last minute, instead choosing to sing a few awkward bars of "We Are the World".
Ok, so what?
So he didn't finish the performance because he was too busy hugging the forty children on stage with him. Creepy.
Who signed their kids up for this? In about a million ways -- whether he's droppin' his baby outta hotel windows, or facing charges again and again and again for molesting young boys -- this is a man who has proved himself not to be a good influence on children. In any way. Ever.
Ugh. And then I remember that he has his own kids to screw up. Ugh. Again.

Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? I don't particularly like Michael Jackson - but he was found NOT GUILTY. Plus, the mother who accused him of molesting her boy has a string of allegations she's made about celebrities, in pursuit of financial gain.

Yeah, ok. Good point. But that baby outta the hotel window thing was still weird.

There is no way in earth I would let Michael Jackson near my child. Yes, I do believe in "innocent until proven guilty" for the courts. But are you saying that no guilty person has ever been set free? In the same vein, no innocent person has ever been convicted of a heinous crime?
But as a parent, I've learned to trust my gut first--and my gut is telling me that Michael Jackon + Kids = Bad News.

No, I would not let my children near Michael Jackson. He has too much of a fascination with children for my liking. I don't know if he's guilty or not...but just being found not guilty doesn't mean he's innocent. (Soon, he'll write his own "If I did it" book, I imagine.) But, no, he wouldn't have the opportunity to be anywhere near my children.

Am I the only one who just doesn't get the Micheal Jackson thing? I don't get his popularity, and I certainly don't get his continual attraction to other people's children in terms of using them as stage props. He's not relevant in our culture anymore, except as a constant "perv" joke.

So 1 mother has a history of making aligations. What about ALL the other families? It isn't just 1 case he has had multiple famlies accuse him, and he dangled his baby out the window.
He makes his kids run around with sheets over thier heads. Fine he is a celebrity and is trying to protect them but, I couldn't tell you what Mel Gibson's kids look like. I have seen pictures of Tom and Kim's kids but I couldn't remember them unless I was told it was them.
I wouldn't let my kids near him.
