Learning to plan ahead during the holidays is a lesson in frustration
Filed under: Just For Moms, Activities: Babies
Now that I am a mother of two, a wife and a work-from-home-mom, I'm finding that getting everything done in time is harder than I thought.Weekends have already been a source of do-it-all frustration, but now I've added the Christmas card picture and finding those final few presents to my list. We drove past the mall yesterday and saw a parking lot filled to capacity. Luckily, I don't need to get any presents from the mall, but I guess I'm not alone in the "do it all on the weekend" holiday mentality.
I'm halfway finished with making my Christmas cards. Yes, I know I don't have to do that, but it is a hobby I really enjoy doing. But add in presents, working, taking care of kids and everything else and well, I think I'm ready to hire a personal assistant for the Christmas season.
Since in my case misery loves company, I'd love to hear if anyone else is feeling the holiday frustration this early. Do you have any tips to help me get my act together? When do you find the time to get ready during the holiday season?

I want to make this a wonderful first Christmas for our little girl (even though she probably won't know or care about Santa yet). I want to please everyone from my family to my coworkers with my overflowing generosity and thoughtfulness. But where is the time and money for it? I'm trying to use online shopping as my savior. So far, it's helping. Also, I feel like photo gifts are easy and relatively inexpensive--and anyone who's crazy about your kids will appreciate them. Finally, I think you have to place reasonable expectations on yourself and not get hung up on the Hollywood version of what the holidays are "supposed" to be. Enjoy as much as you can and try not to stress out too much!
