Oy Vey! The Rabbi is gay!
Filed under: Gay Parenting, That's Entertainment
So I went to check on one of my favorite webcomics, Shabot 6000, and I noticed an entry on the front page journal. It seems that the Conservative movement has decided to accept gay rabbis and allow same-sex commitment ceremonies. I admit that I don't keep up on such matters, but this caught my eye. The post also pointed to a children's story written by a rabbi on this very subject called "Oy Vey! The Rabbi is Gay!".I read it and I must admit I'm glad I'm working at home today because it brought a tear to my eye. It's a beautiful tale about what's really important in a relationship and in our communities. I'm ecstatic about the decision and excited about sharing the story with my kids.

FRED said...A GAY Rabbi? How is this not suprising to me? I recently read an article about Israel allowing "same-sex" marriages. Don't the rabbi's make the descisions for the politicians in that country? I am happy for them! They promote it, why not practice it?

dvorah said...there are many kinds of rabbis, like there are different religions. There is nothing wrong with being gay. The thing is that a ^Rabbi¨should know that in the bible it is frowned at many times. If you are a Religious leader you cannot pick and choose which things in the bible you can take out or add in. Therefore, just call it another religion. Orthodox, conservative, reform, and gay reform.
That is fine, just call it what it is so that people are aware what views are being pushed on their families.

Sharon said...Good for them! At least they can be open and accepting of people as they are, and not try to force people to all fit one mold. We've seen what the results are of that - you get guys like that evangelist in Colorado who deny their true selves all their lives, to the point where they hate themselves.
I just can't believe in a God that "hates" anyone.
Oh, and to the "troll" (great word!) - methinks thou dost protest too much.
