NASCAR's Jeff Gordon and supermodel wife expecting baby
Filed under: Bump Watch, Celeb Kids, Celeb Parents, Rumors, Media
NASCAR megastar Jeff Gordon's stock car doesn't have a backseat, so I'm pretty sure it's not equipped with the LATCH system. He's going to have to make a lot of modifications to his life fairly soon, because he and his supermodel wife Ingrid Vandebosch just announced that the couple is expecting their first child in July. The annoucement came as a statement on Gordon's website, where he wrote, "We're obviously very excited. Christmas came early for us this year. This is a very special gift for us, one that we're both looking forward to. Ingrid and I can't wait to be parents," Gordon said. "We've known for a little while, but we couldn't wait any longer to share the good news with our friends and fans."
Gordon is one of NASCAR's greatest all-time stars, having won the championship four times and he remains the current active leader in career wins. He is scheduled to have two races in early July when his wife is due: one in New Hampshire on July 1, and the big race at Daytona International Speedway on July 7.
[and congratulations to NASCAR superfan bitemycookie on the birth of her son Zach]

Katia said...Yeah. Memo to Blogging Baby writers: Merely being preggers (or having a D-list celebrity wife who has a bun in the oven) doesn't mean that the story is relevant!

She's having a baby, right?
This site is called Blogging Baby, correct?
Sounds pretty darn relevant to me!

Katia said...No, Michelle, not every pregnancy is relevant. There are entirely too many posts about celebrity this-and-that which detract from the site. Of course I don't have to read these articles, J.D. And I don't!

My husband is a die-hard Nascar fan (We got married the day of the banquet. . . guess what we did on our wedding night?) I am a so-so fan, depends on what's happening at the moment. And never a fan of Jeff Gordon. . .
BUT. . .I still contend that Ingrid's pregnancy is relevant to this site.
Also, Katia, ALL BABIES ARE RELEVANT to someone, maybe not to you, but someone, somewhere thinks a certrain baby is relevant. But, then again, you don't read these kinds of posts, do you?

Katia said...Michelle, clearly all babies are relevant to someone. That was a totally bland statment. However, on a site like BB, which sells advertising, the writers don't strive to achieve relevsncy with a handful of readers!
And this has absolutely nothing to do with Nascar. My original post was an attack on the article itself.

Michelle said...I don't understand why you felt the need to attack at all. I don't see how this article could be seen as offensive or controversial to anyone. It was merely an announcement that the couple is expecting a child. Maybe you are just feeling the "bah-humbugs" and feel the need to lash out?
If the advertisers have an issue with the content, I am sure they will address it with the admin. of this site. I don't really think they need anyone else speaking for them.
Here's hoping you get the Holiday Spirit back *cheers*

Katia said...Of course the advertisers don't need me to speak for them, Michelle! I'm speaking for ME, so that the contributors and the administration know when a reader is dissatisfied.

Christine said...Attention Staff: Reader of blogging baby is dissatisfied with the announcments of when couples are expecting babies(specifically the couples that said reader doesnt care for...). Would like writers to refrain.
Oh.. ok. What were we thinking.... from now on we will poll our readers about their feelings toward a couple before releasing the actual news.
"Will anyone be mad if we announce that so-and-so are expecting?"
Yes?
Ok we wont tell you then.
*rolleyes*
How silly. Stop making baby announcments on blogging baby. HAHAAHAHAHA!
(Go #20 and #2!)

Michelle said...Dear Katia,
You implied you were speaking on behalf of the advertisers when you stated BB sells advertising space, and as such, the writers owe said advertisers a certain *type* of article.
This is a site related to babies and parenting. Thus, a pregnancy is relevant, whether you care to hear the news or not. There are articles written that don't relate to me, at this point in my life. so I usually choose to skip over those articles.
Press the down arrow key on your computer keyboard to experience this phenomenon. You might find you get less irritated and feel less like striking out at others.
I agree, Christine, let's take a vote on the expecting post ;) Maybe they could write posts that hint at who's expecting and we could all make guesses, that way, nobody is specifically mentioned and no delicate readers become offended. I mean, how dare they announce pregancies on a site named Blogging Baby! *Give me a break!*

Lauren said...Jeff and Ingrid are really happy about startinga family and now they have a chance to, so they will have to make motifications but that is part of having a family, why be negative about something you can't change and be happy.
If Jeff and Ingrid knew someone was having a child the would wish both parents well. I see much negativity because of the news, but women are having babies everyday so what is the difference.
Jeff and Ingrid are like regular people who have a different lifestyle then we do and can do most then we can but does not mean that they will use what they have been given to get back at people.
We should be happy for Jeff and Ingrid, and hope that they will have a great family. Ingrid is really happy.
I don't see why there is any problem
