Giving birth is "easy" according to Heidi Klum
Filed under: Bump Watch, Celeb Parents, Rumors
On my list of "easy" things to do, I'd have cooking pasta, lifting boxes under 30lbs, and spelling my name. But birth? Childbirth? To be fair, I'll never face the even the prospect of labor nor delivery -- but, rumor has it, squeezing a child out of one's vagina is no walk in the park. Ladies, am I right?
It appears, however, that if you're Heidi Klum, not only are you able to have three children in 2 1/2 years, but you'll emerge from this hellacious ordeal claiming that giving birth is "easy."
Dazzlingly attractive, married to a widely successful pop star, and able to have children with a shrug and a grin -- it appears Ms. Klum leads the perfect life. That, or she has the genetic defect I wrote about last week, and is incapable of experiencing pain.
Either way, she's a very lucky lady.

Angelica said...I believe that every experience is different, but I will have to agree -within my experience- that giving birth was easy for me. Yes, there was the pain and cursing and then there was the epidural. Both of my children were born in less than eight hours of passive and active labor and with less than 10 minutes of pushing. My son was actually born in one push.
If I could rate my pregnancy and birthing experiences as a barometer over whether I would have more children I would have to yell an emphatic "yes". But then there is the child-rearing, which you can never be prepared for!
Let Heidi Klum and any other woman who has had an "easy" pregnancy and delivery have their day. We all have our own experiences and successes and that is what keeps us coming back for more or saying enough is enough!

Desiree said...Indeed, I think alot of the reason women have pain in childbirth is due to fear of said event to begin with. We are brainwashed from the time of our own births to believe that childbirth is this horrid, painful event. So much so that many naive women are having c-sections to try to control it. I did with my first and that was also Britney Spears reasoning. Then I got pregnant with my second, read and learned all I could about pleasurable childbirth and had an easy breezy 2 hour labor that I only pushed once for, my body did all the other work. There was little to no pain and in fact even an orgasmic feeling as my baby emerged. Had I been at home and not in a hospital I am sure i would have experienced a full orgasmic birth. Next time!

Lori said...Easy?! Exercise?! Orgasmic?!! I'm glad so many posters and Ms. Klum had such positive birth experiences. It has been 18 months since I delivered my son and I'm still dealing with some of the after effects of his birth. So, while I don't think the experience was "torturous," I can say with the utmost certainty taht childbirth is definitely not like any orgasm I've ever experienced!

Jessica said...Yeah, I'm gonna vote "no" on the orgasm!
But, seriously, I didn't have a vaginal birth anyway.
My 18 hours of full labor, little dilation, and resulting c-section was in no way easy.

hp said...*shrug* It obviously all depends on your experience.
For me, giving birth was "easy"--not what I was expecting, due to the stories of my female relatives at all, but nothing like any of theirs. Yeah, transition was horribly painful and pushing an intense experience. But my labor, from first contraction to birth, was 4.5 hours. The extremely painful part was probably about 30 minutes (I did not find pushing painful--the contractions from 7.5cm to complete were the painful part.)

Amy said...Orgasmic?? Lucky woman. It was not that way for me. My son is 2 years old this week, and I'm still sore. Seriously. Of course, it's well worth it, but I consider it to basically be torture.

Kris said...I guess it would be considered easy when you are rich and have top notch docs and nurses at your beck and call for every second of your labour and birth. Screw the regular hospital systems that us regular people (ie: not rich) must endure...we actually have to wait until the anaesthesiologist decides to make an appearance...Ms. Klum probably has her own on staff and had her epidural put in at the eighth month...hehe.
