Video of the Day: The Dog Who Was A Cat Inside

Oh this animated short is beautiful. The story of a dog in Paris, who has an internal cat whom he is constantly battling. It perfectly captures the feeling of being trapped in a strange body. Or of wanting live up to how you look on the outside, but feeling pulled by something opposite on the inside. Parents and children who have struggled with gender/sexuality issues, learning disabilities and mental difficulties will be able to relate. But it honestly has something for everyone.

On one hand, it touched my teenage self, reminding me of the whole era of wanting to fit in and fighting the demons inside that would not let me assimilate. Later in life, I've struggled with issues of mental health (though I suspect the roots of these were sown long ago) and I felt for the dog trying desperately to be canine, only to have his inner cat keep him from his daily pooch activities.

It's not your usual online video fare, but trust me, it will touch your heart.
