Survey reveals gambling habits of teenagers
Categories: Teens & tweens, Gadgets & Tech
A study was recently held in Ontario, Canada, in regards to the gambling habits of teenagers and the results were quite shocking. Of the 2140 teens aged 15-17 surveyed, one third of them are already gambling. 40% are playing poker, 36% purchase raffle tickets / scratch & win lottery tickets, and 23% are into sports betting. Playing dice for money and online gambling wrap up the list at 15% and 10%, respectively. Also interesting were the reasons these kids gave as to why they gamble. Most play for entertainment purposes, but over 20% state they need the money, and another 15% are doing it to win back money they have previously lost.
I'm sure that a large number of parents are oblivious to their children's participation in these activities as much of it is done outside of the home. Parents, add this one to the list of things you must talk to your kids about.
