Buying products that set good examples

Categories: Media

If there's something new, cool, or relevant to Moms online, Miss Zoot usually finds it and points it out. There are many reasons I love Miss. Zoot - her sunny glass-is-half-full disposition, her fierce love for her kids, her determination to achieve her goals. And so I'm interested in what she admires, and in a post on her blog from Friday, she confesses her admiration for Dove.

She links to a new Dove ad that features the realistic (but still beautiful) images of aging. And she notes that she buys Dove for many reasons, partially because they present a picture of female beauty that "..is the picture I want to show my daughter. It is the picture I want to be for my daughter."

I have actually been buying Dove products recently, too. I don't really like the smell of their classic stuff, but I respect their healthy marketing message, and the fact that they are so revolutionary in showing a different side of female beauty.

And so I wondered, do you buy products with thought of the message it might portray to your kids? I hadn't put much thought into it previously, but I will going forward. Thanks, Miss Zoot.
