Girl Scout cookies, now without trans fats
Categories: Eating & Nutrition
This year, when you're buying your Thin Mints, you can feel even better about helping the Girl Scouts, because those delicious little cookies are now virtually trans-fat free. According to the Girl Scouts organization, the cookies will still taste the same, but they will be more heart-healthy, as long as you eat them in moderation, of course. "If it says zero grams, but contains partially hydrogenated oil, people should know it does contain a little bit of trans fat," says Michael Jacobson, executive director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest. "If somebody ate several servings of those foods a day, someone could consume 2 or 3 grams of trans fat, which is significant."
So are they saying I SHOULDN'T eat the entire box of Thin Mints? Too late.
Go here to find out where to get your Girl Scout cookies.

Enjoy those Thin Mints! Also wanted to share that the Girl Scouts have finally gone high tech and created a website that makes it easy to find those delish cookies (http://www.GirlScoutCookies.org). Also, they’ve posted some vintage cookie ads on MySpace (http://www.MySpace.com/GirlScoutCookieSale). Pretty funny, kitschy stuff from the 1970’s, definitely worth a look!

Its HogWash, The Cookies are not transfat free, the never actually changed their recipes. If you want proof, just look at the ingredients list and you will see that there is more Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (which is pure transfat) than there is flower.“Sugar, Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, (Soybean, Cottonseed, Coconut Palm And/Or Palm Kernel Oils, Tbhq And Citric Acid To Preserve Freshness), [then] Enriched Flour".
how can there be less transfat than before when there is more transfat than flower per cookie weight? the people who make gir scout cookies are lying to the girls and exploting their honesty. you should be outraged.
I am the father of a beaautiful girl in the girl scouts and we need to send a message, lets get back to the basics, stop buying the cookies and bake our own to sell, then all of the money can go to the troop without making the cookie people rich while at the same time making people unhealthy.
here is a great recipe for thin mints that we did this year in lou of selling the poison cookies made by the money hungry corporations.
