Who will be the new Hermione Granger?
Categories: That's Entertainment
Hermione Granger may look a little different in the 6th and 7th Harry Potter movies. According to Britain's News of the World, Emma Watson, the actress who played Harry Potter's sidekick in the first 5 movies, is no longer interested in the part.
Says Rupert Grint, who plays Potter's best friend, Ron Weasley, "Emma doesn't want to do it anymore. She's tired of being known as 'that girl from Harry Potter.' Daniel and I are distant from her now. We don't text or talk to her when we are not filming."
The studio, however, disagrees completely, telling the BBC that that they're "extremely confident that Emma will be back for 6 and 7."
Both Grint and Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Potter, have signed for the final two films.
While I'm sure it'd disappoint many movies fans, I can understand Watson's apprehension about finishing the series. It must be near impossible to feel like a normal teenager when you're constantly stared at and stalked by paparazzi.

The Leaky Cauldron -

and MuggleNet

both report she's returning. They are usually the most reliable sources for this kind of stuff.

Hold your horses, there. I checked The Leaky Cauldron, http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/#article:9627, today to see what they have to say about this, and they insinuated that all the reports of Emma leaving are from tabloids, and they also cited this report from CBBC Newsround, http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_6460000/newsid_6464000/6464049.stm, that states "Emma Watson is certain she will do the last two Harry Potter movies, despite reports claiming she told film bosses she wanted to quit."
Of course, both reports are from March 18, two days ago, and no one has reported since that she has definitely signed her contract, so until we hear more, it is all still conjecture.

I SO hope that if they change actresses for the Hermione character that they do so for Professor Macgonigle as well. I've always thought that Diana Rigg would've been perfect for the part... she'd certainly fit the part of an older witch who can transform into a cat, wouldn't she? I loved her in the Avengers. Very catlike, eh?

Maybe it is hard for her to be a normal teenager, but it would ruin the movies if she wasn't in them! Right from the start, when she started hemming and hawing, I thought, what a little snot. I bet she doesn't have a problem with the millions of dollars she's made.
