Urine in teacher's coffee might get boy expelled
Filed under: Day Care & Education
When the coffee smells funny, don't drink it. It might be full of urine.
That's what happened to a teacher at Wilson Middle School in Muncie, Indiana, who -- after noticing a distinctly un-coffee-like odor the morning brew, alerted the principal. Meanwhile, a student who had overheard classmates talking about the prank also reported the incident, leading administrators to suspect an 8th grade student.
After finding urine in the boy's locker, they safely assumed that he was, in fact, the culprit.
Not surprisingly, the boy has been suspended, and has been recommended for expulsion.
And he should be. Not only is that disgusting, but he's 13 or 14 years-old, and well old enough to know better. This is above and beyond the fact that he was keeping a store of additional urine in his locker to do it again. Fortunately he was caught before someone got sick.

Rachel May said...I'm a biology teacher. Urine *in the bladder* is sterile. Once it journeys out of the body, it picks up any bacteria or virus particles that are present at the opening of the urethra. That's why you have to clean yourself properly before giving a urine sample at the doctor's office.
It's a stupid prank, and he should be expelled.
