Product Recall: Baby Trend Back Pack Carriers
Categories: Safety
Baby Trend Inc., of Ontario, California, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, is voluntarily recalling their Baby Trend Back Pack Carriers. The stitching on the straps can loosen or detach; this may cause the carrier to move and allow children to fall. There has been one report of a child falling and bruising their forehead, as well as 17 reports of shoulder straps loosening.
The recalled backpacks are green and silver, heavy-duty nylon with a lightweight steel frame. Only those carriers with style numbers 2512 and 2592LX -- printed on the metal frame -- are being recalled. These backpacks were sold at department and children's products stores across the country from March 2002 through November 2006 for about $50. If you have one of these, get in touch with the manufacturer for return instructions and a free replacement. For more information, contact Baby Trend at (800) 328-7363 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's Web site.

Yet another reason to use baby carriers that are Native or Asian-inspired rather than these big bulky metal things that keep you child at a distance from your center of gravity ;)
