T-shirt lets caregivers know what your kid can't eat
Filed under: Nutrition: Health, Decor
This is one of those simple ideas that makes you scream "why didn't someone think of that before!" For the next time your kid is off to a new daycare, or starting out at a new school, here's a set of a cute and highly functional t-shirts that inform adults what he or she can't eat.
Each Star Allergy Alerts top has a little graphic, accompanied by a nice bold explanation, that warns caregivers that your child is allergic to nuts, doesn't have dairy, can't eat eggs, has asthma, or -- the catch all -- should be asked about his or her allergies before being given food.
And if a t-shirt seems too over the top, check out the equally cute stickers for more infrequent use. Genius!

Holmes said...That's cool and all, but I knew a few kids in school who would've needed a shirt in XXXXL size to list all their allergies.

the back has a BIG RED area with the warning (duh... when adults serve food to kids, they look at their BACK rarely at their FRONT!)

BrokeMom said...I had a stepdaughter diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was three. When starting pre-school, and then ELEMENTARY school, we were horrified by *how much* food is just handed out without regard to any special dietary need/allergy. We made her a sign once to wear around her neck on a field trip that read "Don't Feed Me, I Have Diabetes", because it seemed like every time I turned around on the school campus or at an event, somebody was serving without asking first! I would have loved a shirt like this for her.
