Rachael Ray creates charity to improve kids' relationship with food

Categories: Places To Go, Eating & Nutrition, Development

Not satisfied with teaching children that once in awhile it's okay to lick brownie batter off a spoon in your underwear, television cooking host Rachel Ray has decided to create a non-profit charity that will empower kids and their parents to improve their relationship with food and cooking. The awesome thing about having a relationship with food is you can sit around with it in your underwear and not be embarrassed, but you do have to be careful about not letting your eye wander over to that apple pie cooling on your neighbor's windowsill.

The non-profit will be called "The Yum-o! Organization" and it will focus on educating families about cooking healthy meals, feeding hungry American kids, and funding cooking scholarships for kids interested in careers driving around America eating fabulous food for less than $40 a day.

Ray says: "Growing up, I had a very healthy relationship with food and cooking and, throughout my life, I've met people who were positively influenced by lessons learned in the kitchen. We've created Yum-o! to introduce more kids to cooking, which can have such a meaningful impact on their lives and health. Food definitely brings a smile to my face and so many great memories can be made by spending time together as a family in the kitchen."

"The Yum-o! Organization" already has a website up and running that includes healthy recipes that are easy to prepare and a community for the sharing of success stories and cooking tips.
