The Dangerous Book for Boys: video preview
Categories: Media, That's Entertainment
To a large extent, Connand Hal Iggulden's The Dangerous Book for Boys embodies everything I'd rather not teach my child about gender stereotypes. Namely, that boys are supposed to like rough and tumble fun, while girls sigh, shrug, and think "boys will be boys." How lame.
That being said, a small part of me can't help but love the concept. As we've discussed on ParentDish before, it's full of tons of random information I wish I'd had when I was a kid, plus dozens of ways to kill time on summer afternoons that don't require the television, computer, or hand-held video games.
Last week we learned from Susan that the book is officially on sale in the U.S. today, so if you're interested in owning a copy for yourself, now is your chance. While I won't buy it for my daughter, I might buy it for myself. If nothing else, it should give me plenty of ideas on how to turn my child into the little trouble-maker I've always known she could be.
For a taste of what you'll find in the book, check out this hysterical promotional video:

I plan on buying this book for my husband who i'd hope will pass it on to our son. It might be geneder stereo typing but oh well. My daughter is just as rough and adventures as my son but she still loves doing girl things as of lately I can't get my son to go shopping anymore to girly. I might even peek in the book to see how I can get my son from ripping his pants when climbing the trees outside our house.

A great way for fathers and sons to bond. Don't we need more of that? I like the book ideal and the video promoting it

I bought this when it came out in the UK, as we lived there at the time, which was very soon after our son was born. I can't wait for him to grow up some more and his dad and I can use it to think up weekend fun!
